The Wild Raspberry was purchased in Sept. of 2004 by a labor and delivery nurse of 26 years. After going on vacation and visiting gourmet stores she came back with a vision in mind. Gourmet food became her focus and she went from delivering babies to delivering baskets. Her son returned to CT from college (Johnson and Wales University) to help out with the endeavor. He would use his culinary and marketing knowledge to help transform the store from gifts to gourmet. Since the purchase, they have concentrated on making The Wild Raspberry, a gourmet and specialty store with an emphasis on gourmet food baskets. They have added many new products and countless basket designs. Quality and Presentation are paramount as they continue to create new baskets for every occasion. Recently, they added fresh cut farmstead and artisan cheeses from all over the world with an emphasis on cheeses made in the North East. They also offer monthly educational tastings done by the new daughter-in-law. The focus of the tastings is to expand people’s palates as well as trying new and exciting pairings. It has definitely been a learning experience, for us all as well as lots of fun.
